Airplanes

We live on a private/public use airport in central Michigan called Woodruff Lake Airport (53W). I have been a pilot since 1989 and have owned a 1976 F-19 Taylorcraft since then. We also have an ultralight airplane, which I co-own with my very good friend Orval Hutchinson, called an N-3 Pup. The Taylorcraft is 100 HP and has two seats and is what is commonly called a "taildragger", meaning that it has a tailwheel instead of a nosewheel. The N-3 Pup is a single seat airplane which looks like a small Piper Cub. The Pup has a two cylinder four stroke engine which produces 40 HP.

The Pup was restored by Orval and me several years ago after we purchased it in Tennessee. The Pup was not looking too good when it first came to Woodruff Lake but I flew it for the rest of that season as it was. We thought all that would be needed was to recover the airplane but, as in most projects, it became a complete rebuild. Six months later the Pup emerged and is a real jewel and pure fun to fly. Below is a photo of the Pup and the Metropolitan. More pics to follow....

Here are a few photos of my Taylorcraft.
